The Art Gallery of Western Australia required branding for an upcoming exhibition, ‘Beyond Bling’.
The capsule collection of around 300 varied pieces from the State Art Collection, from the 1800s to today, was designed to demonstrate how jewellery through the ages can be anything from bold statements to private moments.
The exhibition called for branding that saw the human body as a canvas to hold wearable art from the bizarre to the sophisticated.
Creative Execution
We enlisted photographer Richard Jefferson to capture striking visuals in camera, rather than relying on post production effects. The nuanced variation in skin appearance, from molten to brushed metallic, required a precise set up and team. We then applied the photography together to create the final layouts that spoke to the merging of art and body.

See Things Differently
Concept / art direction / copywriting
The gallery also commissioned a hype reel that brought to life its mantra of ‘see things differently’.
We were given access to photographs of the artwork, visitors and the gallery’s logo to create something dynamic for the public.
