This lady writes fascinating thoughts out loud. I rather enjoy it.
I love Scorsese’s attraction/use of the beautiful boy (as evidenced by DiCaprio and now Pitt). The foremost object of my intellectual worship Paglia said the beautiful boy has been a sexual personae since antiquity. You can can see him reproduced in thousands of stone statues of Apollo. And the strain has remained in the Western Eye from David to Elvis:
“The beautiful boy was desired but not desiring…These youths have a distinctly ancient Greek face: high brow, strong straight nose, girlishly fleshy cheeks, full petulant mouth… The beautiful boy is cruel in his indifference, remoteness, and serene self-containment…Narcissistic beauty in a post-adolescent may mean malice and ruthlessness, a psychopathic amorality. There is danger in beauty”.
